Mark Two!
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 25, 2020 at 06:43:27 PM

Greetings Backers,

It’s been two years in the making, but we are finally ready to launch our follow up to Mark One. Introducing: Mark Two!

The quickest way to learn all about it is to head to the Kickstarter page and watch the video, but in short, it is a pen for your pocket or bag. If you like your Mark One, I don’t think there is any question you’ll dig the Mark Two.

You can’t thank you all enough for, well, turning us into a pen company. We hope you enjoy the new edition. As always, we appreciate your continued support.

A new special edition of the Mark One!
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 16, 2019 at 10:28:44 PM

Greetings Mark One backers!

We wanted our lovely Kickstarter backers to be the first to know about a new project we launched that is of particular interest to this group: a limited edition version of the Mark One to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing!

Here are the details about the pen:

  • Made of stainless steel, it weighs twice as much as the original Mark One and is tough as heck.
  • Polished to a glossy shine, with a Titanium Chromium Nitride PVD coating, giving it a metallic, dark grey finish.
  • Features a subtle engraving of the command, service, and lunar modules.
  • Ships with the famed Fisher Space Pen pressurized refill (but will still accept the Schmidt P8126 or any other Parker style refill)
  • Has the same great all-metal click mechanism that you know and love.
  • Only available during this 8 day Kickstarter campaign!

Check out the campaign here!

Our Kickstarter campaign in running in sync with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, which means it only lasts for 8 days. This is your ONLY CHANCE to get this special edition pen. This is an experiment for us, doing a limit edition version of our pen, and we hope you decide to join us!

Thanks, as always, for your continued support!

At last!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Mar 06, 2019 at 01:46:30 AM

Hey folks,

As of today, all of the white pens needed to fulfill all of the international orders are on the way to our UK warehouse! This freight shipment usually takes about a week to arrive, then another few days to process in the warehouse, at which point all of the remaining international orders will be shipped. Yeah! So, if you are an international person still waiting for your order, sit tight, you should receive an email confirmation that your order has shipped in about a week and a half.

As for North American folks, you should have either received your pen or an email confirmation that it has been shipped. If you haven’t, send us a message or email ([email protected]), it likely means you never filled out the address survey so we didn’t know where to ship it.

We didn’t think it would take us over three months to fulfill all the Kickstarter orders, but we can’t thank you enough for your patience. Folks seem to be loving their Mark Ones, and that has made all the stress worth it.

It you are interested in grabbing another pen, for yourself or a friend, they will be shipping from our website in a few weeks when we are fully able to catch up on inventory. And if you ever experience any problems with your Mark One, please don’t hesitant to reach out ([email protected]), we are happy to help.

We have a lot of stuff in the hopper that we are so excited to show you all. Again, thanks for your support, this has been a really satisfying project and campaign for us.

Until next time!

Shipping Progress
about 5 years ago – Wed, Feb 06, 2019 at 01:27:20 AM

Hey Folks!

Wanted to pop up to give a brief shipping update. As of this week, we have covered all the inventory for black pens. What this means is we have made enough pens to cover all the orders that contained a black pen. The vast majority of these orders have already shipped, but this week we sent several hundred pens to the UK, which will cover the remaining inventory of black pens needed for international Kickstarter backers. Any outstanding black pen orders (that do not also contain a white pen) should ship next week, once the inventory arrives and is processed. If your order contains a black pen and a white pen, the black pen will be held in inventory for your order until the white pen is there and the entire order can ship.

In terms of white pens, we are making progress there, albeit slowly. We have shipped about 500 white pen orders, and have about 750 remaining. The good news is, our Cerakote guy is saying he will be able to deliver the rest of the white pens needed by February 18 (not all at once, in smaller batches leading up to that day, so that we can continuously ship). So, at last, light at the end of the tunnel!

We can’t thank you enough for your continued patience. It will feel so good to finally fulfill all of the Kickstarter orders! Most of you have already received and are loving your Mark Ones. To those that haven’t yet, we think the wait will be worth it. In the mean time, check out our friend and pen addict Brad Dowdy gushing about the Mark One on his podcast (starts at 13:07).

When we speak again, it will likely be after all Kickstarter orders have shipped. Yay!

Shipping Update
over 5 years ago – Fri, Jan 04, 2019 at 07:19:53 PM

Happy New Year everyone! Just wanted to give a brief shipping update. As mentioned in the last project update, we expected things to slow down over the holiday break, as our vendors were either shut down or had reduced hours. And things were slowed on our end due to holiday travel and a new baby for Tom’s family (hi Theo!). Now that we are in the new year, we are looking forward to getting production ramped up again and getting the rest of the pens shipped out. Our Cerakote guy is rolling again, and just sent us this picture of the latest batch of white bodies.

There was a hiccup with the shipment we planned to send to our UK warehouse, which is where all the international shipments will ship from. The company that owns the warehouse is actually doing a transition to a new facility, which is planned for mid January (within the next couple weeks). We thought we would be able to send out inventory to this new warehouse, and just have both warehouses able to delivery inventory, but they told us this wasn’t possible, and advised us against sending inventory to the “old” warehouse. Pretty frustrating, but out of our hands. But what this basically means is we are just continuing to build up inventory for our international backers and will likely just be making one big shipment of all the pens to the new warehouse, towards the end of January, after the transition. Once the inventory gets to our UK warehouse it will ship out to all international backers (expect Canada and Mexico, those ship from the US) in one big burst.

Lastly, you might remember during the campaign some folks were asking for a clip for Mark One. Well, we might have an easy solution for those folks. Thanks to a tip from a backer (thanks Vince!) we found that these metal clips by Pokka do indeed fit on the Mark One. Seeing this clip on the Mark One kind of reinforces our decision not to include one (hah), but for folks that really want a clip, this one fits and is inexpensive.

Anyhow, we appreciate your patience as we get ramped back up. Things will still be a little slow at first, what with the new baby and all, but we will be making constant shipments with the goal of having all the pens on the way to backers by February.

Until next time,

Tom & Dan
